Joost Hendriks has the late night slot on Network Radio, and he has the voice for it. Low, unhurried, the sound of a man who has decided nothing on the schedule is worth rushing. If you are driving home at one in the morning, he is the company you want.
He has been doing this since the pirate station days, broadcasting from a friend's attic in Nijmegen with a transmitter that got hot enough to worry about. Most of the people he started with quit. Joost stayed, mostly because he never found anything he liked more than playing a record for strangers at an unreasonable hour.
His show leans into the long stuff: dub, ambient, slow soul, the occasional fourteen minute track he refuses to fade out early. He calls it night music. Everyone else calls it the reason they are still awake.
Late nights, every weekday, until it stops making sense.
