Meet the Voices Behind Network Radio

An honest introduction to the seven presenters who fill the Network Radio week, from the six in the morning news to the unhurried Sunday shift....
Published on: 30.09.2026

Radio is a strange kind of intimacy. You spend hours with a voice, you learn its rhythms, you know when it is about to laugh before it does, and yet most listeners could not pick that person out of a queue at the supermarket. That is the deal. The voice arrives, the face stays home.

We thought it was time to close that gap a little. Not with a grand reveal, just an honest introduction to the seven people who fill the Network Radio week.

The morning shift

Willem van Rijn opens the station on weekday mornings from six. He came out of local radio reading traffic bulletins nobody thanked him for, and that job taught him something most presenters spend years learning the hard way: be clear before you try to be clever. His show is news, weather, and music, in roughly that order of urgency, delivered on the honest assumption that you are not fully awake yet.

Sanne de Vries follows him and immediately changes the temperature. Where Willem informs, Sanne insists. She has no patience for a slow start and builds her hour out of strong coffee and records that most stations have quietly forgotten. If you have ever heard a track on Network Radio and thought where on earth did that come from, there is a good chance Sanne put it there.

Through the afternoon

Thijs Bakker has been behind a mixing desk for twelve years, which is long enough to lose the need to prove anything. His afternoon show is the sound of someone who has decided the best thing a presenter can do is get out of the way. He talks less than the others and the music breathes more.

Fenna Willems does the opposite and it works just as well. She builds her show around conversation, real conversation, the kind where the guest actually finishes their sentence instead of getting steered back to the point. It makes for the occasional untidy moment. We keep them in.

After dark

Joost Hendriks owns the late shift and has exactly the right voice for it. Low, unhurried, entirely comfortable with a pause. He presents like someone who knows that at one in the morning his audience is mostly people driving, people working, and people who cannot sleep, and that all three want the same thing from the radio.

Milan de Groot is the youngest voice on the station and the one most likely to play something you will be hearing everywhere in six months. He does not frame it as discovery and he does not lecture. He just puts the track on and lets you decide.

Annelies Smit holds the Sunday slot, and Sunday is where she belongs. She is in no hurry whatsoever, which on any other day would be a problem and on Sunday is the entire appeal. Her memory for B-sides borders on unreasonable. She will follow a song you have known since you were fifteen with the track that sat on the other side of the single, and then say nothing about it, because she assumes you will notice.

Seven people, one signal

None of them present the same way and that is deliberate. A station where every hour sounds identical is a station you stop hearing. The point of having seven voices is that the day has a shape, that six in the morning does not feel like eleven at night, and that if one presenter is not for you, the next one might be.

You can read the full profiles, see who is on which show, and find the social links on the DJ pages. And if you want to tell any of them what you think, they read their messages. Some of them answer more than they probably should.
